Johannes Westbrook, son of Anthony Jansen Westbroek & Orrseltie Dircks, was born at Albany, New York, before 1668. He was one of the six white founders of Minisink Village. He was a member of the Kingston militia as early as 1686. He took the oath of allegiance in Ulster Co., N.Y., Sept 1, 1689. He served as trustee of Kingston in 1694. In 1709-10 and in 1718-19, he was taxed one schilling in Ulster County for one fyre (fire) place. He was a resident of Kingston in 1684, where, after the banns were published on May 12, he married Magdalena Decker, dau of Jan Broersen Decker & Heyltie Jacobs (see p. 71); she was bpt. Oct 3, 1666 at Kingston, N.Y.
