MAY 23, 1860  TO APRIL, 1943

Nehemiah James “Jim” Sipprell was born in New Brunswick, Canada.  His father was Rev. Ezekiel Siprell and his mother was Letitia Shaw.  Nehemiah is listed in the 1881 Wakefield Parish, Carlton Co, New Brunswick Census as French, 20 years of age,a Free Baptist, Occupation, Teacher. Rev. Ezekiel Siprell, 81, is listed as Free Baptist, French, Clergyman.  Nehemiah’s mother Letitia was 65, origin-American.  His brothers and sisters –

Ruth Ann, 31, Dressmaker; William H., 23, Farmer; Nehemiah J, 20, Teacher; Sadia A, 17.  There were 14 children in the family, but only a few showed up on the 1881 Census.

There were several other Siprell families listed on the Census as well. ( Other children of Ezekiel who were not in the same household, but now lived as neighbors.)

 In October, 1882 Nehemiah went to the United States. 

November 2, 1891 – Nehemiah was awarded  a U.S. Certificate of Citizenship at the Superior Court of Snohomish Co, State of Washington Court.  He was sworn in and became a US citizen.  D.S. Baker & J.W. Heffner appeared with him.  (He changed the spelling of his name to Sipprell.)

In July, 1909  James Nehemiah  Sipprell,  49, merchant is listed on the Passenger List of the BC Manifest to the superintendent of Immigration, Ottawa.  He was traveling by rail with his wife Mildred, 39 and son, James Ernest Sipprell, 20, Clerk.  They were traveling from Everett.  They were born or citizens of USA according to the transcription and they traveled to White Rock BC July 14, 1909.
