Information gathered by Lynn Beedle on September 8, 1972:

John Van Eaton was born in 1792.  He married Lydia Lowry in 1820.  In 1826 they had a son, John Dick Van Eaton who left North Carolina and headed west, ending up in San Jose, California, after being a Deputy Sheriff in Placerville (then Hangtown), California.
